What makes SAMe so special?
SAMe has been prescribed in Europe for more than 3 decades for depression, and in many studies, SAMe has been shown to be equally as effective and in some cases more effective then prescription medications, WITHOUT ANY SIGNIFICANT SIDE EFFECTS.

How SAMe Works:
SAMe, as a methyl donor, activates receptor sites, which increases the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, and norepinephine (the neurotransmitters most associated with depression) and SAMe also helps neurotransmitters receptively bind to their receptor sites .
When the body is not producing enough SAMe, these functions may be disrupted and can be a cause for depression. Through SAMe supplementation, the body is able to maintain or resume its normal function.
Unlike drugs, which medicate the problem, SAMe helps the body do what it does naturally.
Not only has SAMe been found helpful for standard and general depression, some studies have found SAMe to be helpful for depressions associated with specific conditions, such as:
1) Post-Partum Depression- In one study in which patients were administers 1600mg of SAMe for a day, significant improvement was
recorded.
2) Depression for Drug Detoxification- In one study where 1200mg of SAMe was administered during drug detoxification, a significant deduction in physiological stress was observed.
How should I take SAMe?
SAMe should be taken on an empty stomach for maximum absorption. SAMe supplementation can be divided over the course of the day, (i.e. before breakfast and before lunch.) Suggested Dosage: Take 400 mg a day for the first week. If after the first days the desired benefits are not achieved you may gradually increase your level of supplementation. In the second week, take 800mg twice a day. You may increase your intake of SAMe to as much as 400mg four times a day at the end of the third week for a maximum of 1600 mg. A month or two after you have achieved you desired results, you can try to decrease your dosage to a maintenance level of 400 mg to 800 mg daily.
Warning: If you are currently taking prescription anti-depressants, consult your physician before using SAMe. If you suffer from bipolar (manic) depression, do not use this product.
